Ο αγγλικανός ιερέας και θεολόγος Christopher Wordsworth (1807 – 1885) παρακολούθησε μαθήματα κλασικών σπουδών στο κολλέγιο Trinity του Πανεπιστημίου του Cambridge και περιηγήθηκε την Ελλάδα κατά τη διετία 1832 – 1833. Με την επιστροφή του άρχισε παράλληλα με την ιερατική και διδασκαλική του σταδιοδρομία να εκδίδει έργα σχετικά με την τοπογραφία και την αρχαιολογία του ελλαδικού χώρου, με διασημότερο το εικονογραφημένο "Greece, pictorial, descriptive, and historical" (1839).
