Containing a full and accurate account of the several Parts of the known world, As it is divided into continents, islands, oceans, seas, rivers, lakes &c. the Situation, Extent, and Boundaries, of all the Empires, Kingdoms, States, Provinces, &c. in Europe, Asia, Africa and America. Their constitutions, revenues, forces, climate, soil, produce, manufactures, trade, commerce, cities, chief towns, universities, curious structures, ruins, antiquities, mountains, mines, animals, vegetables, minerals. Together with the Religion, Learning, Policy, Manners, and Customs, of the Inhabitants. To which is prefixed, an introductory dissertation, explaining the Figure and Motion of the Earth, the Use of the Globes, and Doctrine of the Sphere, in order to render the Science of Geography easy and intelligible to the meanest Capacity. Ο Simon François Ravenet I (1706 ή 1721 – 1774) γεννήθηκε στο Παρίσι, όπου και θήτευσε καλλιτεχνικά στο πλευρό του LeBas, ειδικευόμενος στο σκίτσο και τη χαρακτική. Έχοντας αποκτήσει σπουδαία φήμη, το 1750 προσκλήθηκε στο Λονδίνο από το σατιρικό καλλιτέχνη William Hogarth, τον οποίο και βοήθησε να ολοκληρώσει το έργο του "Marriage a la Mode". Μετά το πέρας της συνεργασίας ο Ravenet παρέμεινε στη βρετανική πρωτεύουσα. Η δεκαετία του 1760 θεωρείται η πιο παραγωγική και επιτυχημένη της σταδιοδρομίας του. Στη διάρκειά της συνεργάστηκε με τον σημαντικό εκδοτικό οίκο John Boydell, ενώ φιλοτέχνησε τα προτραίτα τεράστιων προσωπικοτήτων της εποχής, όπως του Βασιλέα Γεωργίου Γ', των ποιητών Alexander Pope και James Thompson και του φιλοσόφου David Hume. Η ένδειξη "Huquier" κάτω από την εικόνα πιθανώς να αφορά στην ονομασία του εκδοτικού οίκου.
