Description
Fragment from upper part of a calyx krater. Decoration: Rim zone decorated with chain of leaves. Below, the upper parts of two figures: youthful, beardless Dionysus seated 3/4, reclining on his left elbow. In his right hand a thyrsos. He looks back over his left shoulder at his female companion. Her body is facing, her lifted right arm bent, her head turned profile left. Dionysus is nude from the waist up, she draped. Both wear garlands of white paint, her jewelry, his thyrsos also white. Dilute glaze for hair. Wrist and hand of a thirs figure at viewer's left; possible fingers of a fourth at farthest right.
Interior black glazed with reserved band near top of rim and another lower down.
